Il post di gennaio 2015 – Benvenuti a Wickedford
Citando il buon Luttazzi, questa edizione del post del mese verrà redatta in forma ridotta per venire incontro alle vostre capacità mentali… nonché al mio scarso tempo libero. Però nel breve cappello introduttivo non posso non far menzione del premio per il post dell’anno, se non lo avete fatto avete le ultime 24 ore per farlo… andate di corsa qui. Rimane solo da dire che il primo post premiato del 2015 riguarda Benvenuti a Wickedford, di Medda e Nizzoli, prima trasferta del nostro Dylan a trovare l’ormai ex ispettore Bloch.

Con questa battuta Rimatt mi toglierà l’impunità bimestrale, ma: Meddiocre 
L’autore mi è sempre piaciuto e molto (non che per qualche numero meno riuscito cali la stima), per questo avevo alte aspettative, che altrimenti non avrei nutrito essendo un albo quasi di passaggio tra due storie in cui succedono molte cose rilevanti per il futuro di Dylan e un altro idem, in cui s’introduce il nuovo vilain fisso. E gli elementi presenti qui di continuity li ho apprezzati, è la storia in sé ad avermi deluso e, più che altro, annoiato. E di fronte alla soggettiva noia, non posso votare nemmeno accettabile. Se è meglio de La collina dei conigli, a parer mio, non lo è poi di molto.
Nizzoli forse lo preferivo prima, col suo stile più leggero ed originale, così dettagliato smarrisce qualcosa (sembra un controsenso, ma non lo è), si conformizza forse o si normalizza e spersonalizza, come diceva Skeletor, ma rimane un buon disegnatore, alcune tavole sono davvero belle. Magari non era nemmeno la storia più indicata per il suo estro (al contrario delle due prove dylaniate precedenti).

, a proposito quale sarà il suo nome? Seamus in originale, Adamo in italiano)
Di elementi d’interesse ce ne sono, ma riguardano tutti la continuity. Ci viene presentato lo scenario di Bloch, lo svelamento del suo nome, la sua nuova vita. Come nei suoi peggiori incubi, pure in pensione, gli toccherà convivere con la sua spalla Jenkins. Mi piace il Bloch di ora, tornato ad essere più personaggio, libero, ma sempre acuto e poliziotto nell’anima; a questo punto aspetto con curiosità il prossimo almanacco (e le sue prossime apparizioni, anche se probabilmente si tratterà di trasferte londinesi, sul mensile), potrebbe essere una specie di Barnaby (citato da Recchioni per l’ambientazione) in salsa horror, con Dylan a fargli da assistente e Jenkins ad occuparsi degli intermezzi comici. Ho trovato geniale (e anche un po’ sanamente inquietante) la parte di Groucho. L’albo parte bene, con una scena idilliaca, ma dove c’è un prelato che mi sembra assomigliare a Lynch (in realtà mi sembrava più evidente nella tavola in anteprima, se è così aggiunge qualcosina di piacevolmente bizzarro, però a pag. 46 più che a Lynch assomiglia a Gary Cooper), con la scena di Carpenter e la visita di Dylan, però poi si prosegue senza il minimo di suspense. Fin dal suo apparire al lettore appare evidente che il mostro sarà Adrian, il mostro che si rivela ancora più mostruoso di quello che appariva, un tutt’altro che disprezzabile calcio nelle natiche del politicamente corretto di cui parlavano D&B nel pub, ma piuttosto telefonato. Viene presentata una ridda di personaggi che, visti i grassetti, probabilmente torneranno in storie successive (per ora non mi sono parsi incisivi, alcuni un po’ scontati come il poliziotto gradasso, ma bisognerebbe vederli approfonditi per giudicarli meglio, sempre se davvero torneranno). Il finale, lo scontro col mostro e il mostro stesso in tutta la sua “potenza”, più che paurosi mi son parsi grotteschi, ma quel grottesco involontario da film horror di serie B. Gradevoli invece le ultime pagine dopo la soluzione della vicenda.
